the 80’s

After receiving a degree in Architecture from Cornell University, I practiced with an architecture and interior design firm for three years in Los Angeles. I discovered that my real love was interior design so I opened my own firm—a windowless office on Worth Avenue. When a client walked in and remarked: “I’m sorry I came in the back way but where is the front door?”, I knew it was time to move on— the next step was a retail furniture and accessories store on South County Road.

the 90’s

I was traveling constantly to Los Angeles, New York and Dallas to find the right furniture for my clients. We began to assemble a few manufacturers from the West Coast and New York and opened our first showroom in the DCOTA in the early 90’s. When an opportunity presented itself in the Chicago Merchandise Mart, I opened there in 1995. I knew eventually we had to be in the New York market and in 1998, I opened in the D&D building.

the 21st century

As the industry has experienced new challenges as well as trend changes, I realize that this is the time to be proactive in marketing and servicing our loyal clientele. As a designer, I understand and appreciate the complexities and economics of maintaining a sense of exclusivity. My philosophy has always been to cater “to the trade”. It became obvious that our next step to service our design clientele was to set up a web site that made it easy for designers to shop our various vendors on the Internet. Our objective is to simply link into each of our representative vendors’ web sites, making it easy to transfer from one to another. We also will feature New Product as it is constantly arriving throughout the year. I know you will find this a meaningful tool when you need to access information, as I do, after normal business hours.

The summer of 07 will be a busy one for us as we renovate both the Florida and New York showrooms. Our summer sale has some remarkable buys. We look forward to seeing you in our showroom on your next visit.
